Dr Maria Pilar Aparisi Gómez

Dr Aparisi Gómez is a Consultant Radiologist at Te Whatu Ora Te Toka Tumai Auckland and Honorary Lecturer at The University of Auckland

Dr Aparisi Gomez studied at The University of Valencia and became a certified radiologist in Terrassa, Barcelona, Spain, subspecializing in musculoskeletal and interventional radiology in La Ribera, Alzira, Spain.

In 2008 moved to New Zealand, becoming first an Educational affiliate and later a fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR).

She has worked as a consultant at Auckland Hospital since 2011, gaining extra experience as an obstetric and gynecological radiologist, with a special focus on diagnosis targeted to high risk pregnancies and fetal medicine. Her work at Auckland hospital is split between the MSK section of the Radiology department and National Women’s Ultrasound department.

While mainly based in New Zealand, she works remotely as a musculoskeletal radiologist for IMSKE (European Musculoskeletal Institute) in Valencia.

She also acts as a consultant for MSK studies at the Centre of Advanced MRI (CAMRI) in Auckland, and as a consultant radiologist at Sonelle (Obstetrics and Gynecology practice) and Mercy Radiology.

Proportionally, the most important part of her workload is focused on musculoskeletal imaging, a field in which she lectures regularly and has published more than 80 indexed articles, 13 book chapters and a textbook. Dr Aparisi Gómez serves as associate editor for Skeletal Radiology, assistant editor for AJR, and has recently been appointed Musculoskeletal section editor for European Radiology Experimental.

She is an honorary lecturer at the University of Auckland, School of Medicine and School of Medical sciences, and an active member of national (SERAM, SERME, ASUM) and international radiological societies (ISS, ESSR, ESR, AMSIG) and specialty subcommittees of ESSR. She is a member of the education committee of the European Society of Skeletal Radiology and the e-learning subcommittee of the European Society of Radiology.

She currently serves as co-chairperson of the research and education committee of the International Skeletal Society.
